The Islander's Journey Part III.: Finder
Finder is powerful tool for each Islander to organize all stuff found at Atollon. In Finder, you may create & track any kind of folder, which may contain almost any information about particular subject (clients, partners, projects, sales opportunities, assets, activities, etc.).
Advanced Islanders may even create their own Finder structure and therefore set-up their own Finder behaviour.
The main Finder purpose
The main purpose of Finder is to organize (not just) client database, projects and related information to be easily found when working in group of people. Islanders want to build their businesses on strong ground. Therefore they put some order into organizing their critical business information just from the beginning.
For example, the Project Overview tool allows Islanders to organize the whole project into smaller pieces (milestones). This way if the project is bigger, it may be easier to handle, once it is split into smaller steps.
All data at one location
Not only projects, but any Finder folder may contain most common information and activity, such as communication, tasks, documents or even calendar events.
Finder may contain also more advanced, financial information about project budget and billing status, all communication connected with client, invoices, orders, estimates, sales opportunity details, time sheet, etc. Almost anything connected with your business.
The information is stored hierarchically. That means any information found at project may be found at corresponding folder above the project in the hierarchy.
Finder is made to fit your needs
It is ussual that the company does not work on only one project, but at least several projects for one or more clients. Each project can be different as well. It is up to the chief Islander or business analyst to draw map of typical projects, their progress, roles of people entering those projects, profiles of Atollon users, etc. Atollon provides Islanders with several tools to customize the Finder behaviour completely.
One of the main reasons for Finder is to get all people on the same page. But not each user wants to see everything. Using Activity Panel Settings screen, Islanders may set-up what information is visible to various User Profiles.
To set-up Finder structure, you may easily browse through Options and look for Context Settings tool. This tool will allow you enter and modify Folder, Project and Activity types, their states, templates, relations and more.
